Warm-ups/Cool-downs: 5-10 minutes

Instructions:
Explain to the children that it is important to warm up before they engage in any vigorous physical activity and then to cool down afterwards.

The purpose of the warm-up is to stretch the muscles and circulate the blood to all parts of the body. Cool-downs are done after a vigorous physical activity. The cool-down helps the body return to a resting state slowly.

Try the following routines with the children. Start with the arm, shoulder, knee and waist movement. Engage them in some light to moderate activity with brief dance steps.

Cool down by repeating the arm, shoulder, knee and waist movements.

Active Energizer Purpose: To energize the group and familiarize them with warm-up and cool-down activities.

Tasks for Facilitator: Familiarize yourself with the movements.
