• About 9 million Americans, ages 6-19, are overweight. • 95% of food commercials on TV are for products high in fat, sugar and salt. • An apple has only 80 calories and contains almost no fat. . Snacking on sugar snacks produces acid in the mouth, which can cause cavities. • Over 50% of all snacks eaten by children are cookies, desserts, chips and candy. • Not all foods high in fat and calories are bad for you, because many are packed with nutrients. Nuts, for example, are healthy if you only eat small amounts. • Chips and salsa can be a very healthy snack, but only if you eat baked chips, not fried. |
