The brochure is a great teaching tool, just like a textbook is for school
students. It's best to have a “give and take” presentation with your parent
audience rather than read the information from the brochure. Here are
some presentation tips from Healthy Children Healthy Futures!

Tips

Before the Presentation
Review the brochure and this script to be sure you feel comfortable with the material.
Copy any materials you choose to share.
Organize any “Fun Things” to do or other demonstration teaching materials you plan to use.
Invite any other guests who might help you with the presentation to your parent group (for example, the school nurse, health educator, doctor, nutritionist, a health professional from the local hospital or another parent).

At the start of the Presentation
Briefly, tell other parents how you got involved as a parent advocate and why you feel it is important.
 Distribute the Prevent Diabetes brochures.
