It's best to have a “give and take” presentation with your audience rather than
read the information from the brochure. Here are some presentation tips from
Healthy Children Healthy Futures!

Thoroughly review The “A” List of Healthy Snacks brochure.
Find at least one other interested parent who wants to help conduct an after-school “healthy snacks” presentation at your school.
Consider conducting a mini-cooking demonstration of snacks during the presentation.
Talk to the principal and any/all parent networks at your school and get their support and additional ideas for the presentation.
If possible, tie-in with an existing parent meeting to present information to parents on healthy snacking.
Bring copies of The “A” List of Healthy Snacks brochure to hand out to parents.
Organize any materials or props you plan to use in your presentation.
If conducting a mini-cooking demonstration, purchase or organize all the food/ingredients, cooking supplies and eating utensils. Arrange for proper set-up and any electrical needs.
Invite other guests that might help you with the presentation to your group (for example, the school nurse, health educator, local chef or dietitian, or other parents).

At the start of the Presentation
Explain the principal/parent-supported goal to the parent group: Conduct presentations to parents to
promote healthy snack choices at school/community events, and at home.
Distribute The “A” List of Healthy Snacks brochures.
